“Captain Abu Raed” Best Jordanian film ever watched…

15 February, 2008

captainaburaed.jpgYesterday was the Valentine day, and because I am single, and because i believed that love is something to feel and celebrate every day not only once every year, so i thought to call friends and do something away from cafes and romance and red colors covering every where…
It was raining and for a little bit snowing, we didn’t care…
So me & my friends Linda & Natalie decided to go to Grand Cinema (at Zara) to watch a Cinema Film that we heard about, it was called (Captain Abu Read), actually i was not that much excited because I didn’t use to see any professional movies with local production, but my friends Linda & Natalie works with RJ which was a part of the movie so they convinced me to attend!!

The Result… WOW I can’t pass here in my blog or even in my facebook without talking about the Film, so here we go!!

Author & Director:
Amin Matalqa…

We used to see some small works for on tube sites like youtube, but mostly it was a comedy movies.
But this is the 1st (Drama) Film for him & it is 1st Jordanian Cinema Film & It is Filmed in Jordan too.

Filmed & Directed in a very Professional level that shocked me & my friends!!
Lovely Music suitable in a WoW way with the scenes.

Awards:
Best Actor Award (for Nadim Sawalha) in Dubai Festival   ( Believe me this guy Nadim is WOW!!)
Award in Sundance American Festival.

The Story:
Abu Raed an old man who works as a cleaning-man in the airport, he finds a captains cap, and he take it on where the kids of the neighborhood saw him and thought he is a real captin, where he liked the idea and started to tell them stories about his trips and his challenges (which was from his imagination)… they were a poor kids so Abu Raed was the only entertainment option for them after football game, he was the internet, T.V., radio, the newspaper & more…

Some social issues was shown in the film:
A drunk dad who use to hit his wife and sons.
A dad who wish to see his daughter married (because she is almost 30 years old).
A kids can’t attend their classes in school because they have to sell stuff on the streets to help parents.
A kid (Murad)… with his dream to became a Captain (Pilot) but he says Its not for us (means poor people)… because such a career needs a lot of money.
Showing the gap between Eastern and western Amman.. the different level of people..

Characters:
Abu Raed: (Real Name: Nadim Sawalha he is a new face on the screen but he did a job that impressed me and made him one of my favorite Jordanian actors from the very first time).

An old man with his simple house simple librery… showes how much he is well-cultured in stead of being a cleaning man, loyality and love for his son who died young and his wife who left nothing for him to enjoy the life after her.
and he had a view on Amman old city (Albalad) that you would die to have a chance to be there for 5 minutes only.

Captin Nour: (Real Name: Rana Sultan, I know her as a T.V. Presenter but she showed me a better skills in acting she looked better and she did better i advice her to focus more on acting)
The only daughter for her parents, she is from a rich family… her parents dream is to see her married because she is 30 years old in the film and yet keeps trying to escape potential husbands… In spite of her being rich, she was simple down to the ground, respecting people without butting the financial walls… Abu Raed was the perfect friend simple as she was…

Kids: (Tareq & Murad mostly)
What is the best point for me was that Abu Raed gave his life to Murad who later became a captain later in spite the bad way he treated Abu Raed before.

Sameh: (New cleaning assistant for Abu Raed)
Simple poor young man who couldn’t do anything but only dreaming about getting married to a rich beautiful girl and opening a coffee shop in Western Amman to sell the Coffee Cup with 3 JD…
by the way Sameh used to act in previous works for Amin.

I really recommend all of you to go and watch the movie… you will love :)
